SAMUEL TEMITOPE PEMI (DIRECTOR PUBLIC BUILDING)
SAMUEL TEMITOPE PEMI, born on November 27, 1966, in Isanlu, Kogi State, is a seasoned Quantity Surveyor and currently serves as the Director/Head of Department, Public Buildings and Housing Development Department, Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Abuja.
He holds an MSc in Construction Management (2007), an MBA (2003), and a B.Sc in Quantity Surveying (1992). He has over thirty years of experience spanning government and private sectors. He has worked in various roles, including at the Federal Ministry of Transportation and the Presidency.
He is a fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, a Board Member of the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria and a Member, Institute of Construction Industry Arbitrators.
He is passionate about education, research, and infrastructure development. He enjoys reading, counselling and travelling. Samuel Temitope Pemi is happily married with children.
FUNCTIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT
The Department has the statutory responsibility to carry out the following functions:
⦁ Formulation and review of Federal Government policies and setting standards in the Housing Sector;
⦁ Coordinating the activities of other Government Agencies on issues pertaining to design and construction of Federal Government Public Buildings and Housing;
⦁ Conceptualization/development of brief, planning, design, supervision and monitoring of all Federal Government Public Buildings and Housing Construction;
⦁ Production of furniture layout and furnishing of New Federal Government Buildings:
⦁ Provision of Public buildings for MDAs;
⦁ Establishment of building standards and Codes for effective housing delivery and safety, in collaboration with relevant Professional bodies;
⦁ Maintenance of an efficient database on building materials and building processes;
⦁ Development of an appropriate landscape scheme, including specifications and implementation, for all Federal Government buildings;
⦁ Vetting and approving Architectural Building Plans and Specifications for proposed building development for the Federal Government and for private building development on Federal Government land;
⦁ Ensuring qualitative delivery of public buildings and mass housing through the deployment of capable and competent professionals for supervision and management;
⦁ Undertaking cost planning, control and evaluation of projects;
⦁ Rendering appropriate cost advice to Government on building projects; and
⦁ Enforcement of standards in the delivery/production of healthy, safe and decent houses.
